Why do a Personal Safety Course?
Think about it: are you safety conscious when you’re putting your groceries in your car? How about when you go for a run or leave the bar after a night out with friends … Or when you leave the gym to fetch your little one from crèche. Perhaps your daughter walks to her digs from varsity.
We seldom consider how vulnerable we are. We love South Africa but crime is a very real issue. Instead of pretending that it doesn’t exist - or ignoring it - you can educate and empower yourself.
The Personal Safety Training course gives you the tools you need to do just that. So, whether you’re a gun-toting dad who wants to learn how to protect himself and his loved ones in a situation where lethal force is not advised, a mom who has possibly been in a smash and grab situation while her precious bundle of joy was in the car, or a student who walks to campus every day and feels she has no protection, this training course is for you.
Learn the skills you need to give you the confidence to live without fear.
What you’ll learn:

Introducing Sabre South Africa’s Personal Safety Training course
It’s important to have a safety mindset – not be paranoid about safety. The Sabre Personal Safety Training course helps you protect yourself and your family, giving you hands-on training to help prepare you to escape a dangerous threat.
You’ll learn how to safely aim and fire pepper spray using safe water-filled practice spray canisters.
You will NOT be sprayed with pepper spray at any time during your training. You will learn advanced skills by deploying the practice spray at your instructor during a simulated attack.
You will also be taught actual self-defence tactics should you encounter a situation and not have your pepper spray at hand.
Be Smart – Be Ready – Be Safe!
The Personal Safety Training course gives you three hours of advanced safety awareness training, tips, skills and techniques in an intimate and fun atmosphere.
Class sizes are limited to no more than 25 students – and not fewer than eight – allowing your instructor to critique your performance and provide important feedback.
What you get out of your Personal Safety Training course:
- A Sabre Advanced Safety Awareness manual
- A Sabre water-filled, inert practice canister for use in class
- A Sabre defence pepper spray with quick release key ring to attach to your keys for your protection
- Invaluable survivor skills for smart living
- A certificate of completion
- Three hours classroom time and hands-on training

So why pepper spray?
Pepper spray gives you the advantage of defending yourself at a safe distance.
Even if your self defence skills are proficient, why go hands-on when you can defend yourself from a distance, and possibly avoid an attack?
You may have many thoughts running through your head: you’re a strong guy and can take anyone. Or you always have your phone with you and can just call the police. But why risk your life or that of a loved one, instead of empowering yourself with the knowledge and skills that could make all the difference?
At Sabre South Africa, we strongly believe that real empowerment lies in being proactive, and not living in fear of crime or threats that harm your sense of security. We hope that you will join us in our mission to empower people.
